What makes someone LGBT?
Being LGBT is not a choice you get to make - just as being heterosexual is not a choice for those in the 'straight' community.
How do I know if I'm LGBT?
Some people can tell they are LGBT from early adolescence. They recognise they are emotionally, romantically and sexually attracted to the opposite sex even before they have any kind of sexual experience. Others wait until they actually engage in sexual activity before they confirm their own sexuality. There are no rules everyone is different.
I have heard people say that being LGBT is a mental disorder - is this true?
No. There is no link between a person's sexual orientation and their psychological behaviour. LGBT people are the same as every other group in society.
