How do I know if someone has an STD?

You cannot tell just by looking at someone if they have an STD,  You could even be in an faithful, long term relationship and your partner could still have an STD but have no symptoms.

You do not need to have full sex to catch an STD; some infections can be caught by kissing or touching the genital areas.

How do I protect myself from an STD?

Remember you can never be sure that your partner is free from infection; it is however your responsibility to ensure you are free from infection.

STDs are avoidable but your options are limited...

  • Less sexual partners equals less chance of catching an STD.  Limit the number of people you have sex with.  It only takes one partner to infect you!

  • Abstinence is only true way of ensuring you don't catch an STD
